Prof.Dr. Sibel Özkan Gürdal

Sibel Özkan Gürdal is a professional with experience in organization, communication, and civil society work within the healthcare field. With her patient-centered approach and coordination skills, she actively participates in projects aimed at raising awareness of breast health. She contributes to the training, events, and awareness-raising activities conducted by the Breast Health Association (MEMEDER), supporting the association's community-based and sustainable health vision.

I was born on July 20, 1974, in Lüleburgaz. I completed my primary education at Lüleburgaz Emrullah Efendi Primary School and my secondary and high school education at Edirne Anatolian High School. In 1998, I graduated from Istanbul University Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Medicine.

In December 1999, I began my medical specialty training in the Department of General Surgery at the Ministry of Health Taksim Training and Research Hospital. During my five-year residency, I spent three months as an observer physician at the Breast Clinic of MD Anderson Cancer Center in the United States. In 2005, I became a specialist in General Surgery.

After working at a private hospital for three years, I have been serving as a faculty member in the Department of General Surgery at Namık Kemal University Faculty of Medicine since April 1, 2008. I currently continue my duties as Deputy Chief Physician at Namık Kemal University Research and Application Hospital and as the Director of the Breast Cancer Early Detection Program.

In addition, I am a member of the Executive Board of the Namık Kemal University Center for Women’s Studies Application and Research. I have authored 15 articles published in international journals and 15 articles published in national journals. I am currently actively working as a volunteer member of MEMEDER.
