Dr. Zehra Yıldırım Özdemir

Zehra Yıldırım Özdemir is a professional with many years of experience in the healthcare field, contributing to breast health awareness and patient support processes. She utilizes her knowledge gained from clinical and organizational work, particularly focusing on patient communication, coordination, and social responsibility projects. She actively participates in the training, awareness, and organizational activities conducted within the Breast Health Association (MEMEDER), contributing to the association's vision of increasing its societal impact.

She was born on August 19, 1967, in Bilecik. She completed her primary, secondary, and high school education in Bilecik. In 1991, she graduated from Sivas Cumhuriyet University Faculty of Medicine. Between 1991 and 1992, she worked at a Health Center and the Emergency Department of the State Hospital in Sandıklı, Afyonkarahisar. From 1992 to 1993, she served at the Bilecik Tuberculosis Control Dispensary. Between 1993 and 1997, she continued working in the emergency department and coronary intensive care unit of Bilecik State Hospital.

From 1997 to 2000, she worked in the cardiology coronary intensive care unit at Eskişehir State Hospital. Between 2000 and 2005, she served in Van due to her spouse’s cardiology residency at Van Yüzüncü Yıl University. She initially worked at the Van Mother and Child Health Center and was later appointed as Head of the Mother–Child Health and Family Planning (AÇSAP) Department at the Van Provincial Health Directorate.

During this period, she took part in the Laparoscopic Tubal Ligation Campaign initiated by the Governor of Van, during which laparoscopic tubal ligation procedures were performed on hundreds of women. She also led family planning education and implementation programs for the mothers of scholarship recipient girls within the Kardelenler Project initiated by Prof. Dr. Türkan Saylan, President of the Association for Supporting Contemporary Life. Additionally, she supported family planning projects for women conducted by the Willows Foundation in Van and provided IUD (intrauterine device) training and certification to doctors, midwives, and nurses working in Van, assisting them with field implementation. She also participated in the National Polio Eradication Vaccination Campaign.

In 2005, following the completion of her spouse’s residency, the family returned to Eskişehir, where she worked as a primary care physician. Between 2006 and 2008, she worked together with her spouse at the Cardiology Outpatient Clinic of Florence Nightingale Hospital in Istanbul, serving in the stress test and Holter monitoring units. In 2008, following her spouse’s appointment to Marmaris State Hospital, she worked as a primary care physician and as a 112 emergency ambulance physician until 2010.

In 2010, the family returned to Istanbul for their children’s education. Between 2010 and 2012, she worked as a Family Physician in Esenyurt. Since 2012, she has been serving as a Family Physician at Bahçeşehir Family Health Center. She is married and has three children.

MEMBERSHIPS:
Istanbul Association of Family Physicians, Istanbul Medical Chamber, MEMEDER. She has also taken an active role in Parent–Teacher Associations at her children’s schools.

Family Medicine Certificate, IUD Certificate, IUD Trainer Certificate, Occupational Medicine Certificate. She also holds numerous certificates of participation from congresses, symposiums, and professional training meetings.
