Overall Purpose of the Project
To develop a comprehensive breast cancer registration and screening program in line with the needs of Turkey and that can be used countrywide
Project Rationale
Breast cancer is the most common cancer type seen in women in Turkey, accounts for 24.1% of all cancer types in women. Although it accounts for such a high ratio, related statistics is vague since there is no comprehensive registration and scanning programs in place. Available database was retrieved either from health intuitions, which only registered patients seeking treatment or one-time cross-sectional studies. A long-term breast health scanning program with a wide societal reach has not been performed in Turkey. However, comprehensive statistics is the only way to make a sound evaluation of the general breast health and related complications, and to design programs customized for Turkey. This will in return increase the rate of early diagnosis whilst declining the death ratio.
