Dr. Vahit Ozmen is Professor of Surgery in the Department of Surgery, at the Istanbul Faculty of Medicine  Istanbul University, and Chairman of the Breast Center in the Istanbul Florence Nightingale Hospital. He is also a Board Member of the Turkish Cancer Institute.

After graduating Istanbul Faculty of Medicine with the first degree, Dr Ozmen worked as a resident, assistant professor and associated professor of surgery in the department of surgery at the same faculty. He worked in the Department of Surgery at the Tulane University of New Orleans Tulane University School of Medicine as a post-doctoral fellow from 1989 to1991. He was invited as a visiting professor by MD Anderson Cancer Center, Mayo Clinics-Rochester, University of Pittsburgh Medical Center and Tokai University, Tokyo, Japan for short periods. He has an honorary diplome and medal from Bulgarian Surgical Society for his efforts to promote breast health care in Bulgaria. He is a board member of Senologic International Society (SIS), and member of several other international and national professional organisations, committees and expert panels including The Breast Health Global Initiative. Dr.Özmen is founder and honorary President of The Breast Health Society (Meme Sağlığı Derneği – MEMEDER).

Dr. Ozmen is a reviewer and board member for numerous journals including Lancet Oncology, The Breast, The Journal of American College of Surgeons, European Journal of Surgical Oncology ,British Journal of Cancer, International Journal of Surgical Oncology, Breast Cancer Research and Treatment, and The World Journal of Surgical Oncology. He is also Editor-in Chief in The European Journal of Breast Health, The Journal of Turkish Clinics, and Surgical Science. He has published more than 200 papers in English and Turkish in the area of breast cancer, and editor of new published Textbook of Breast Diseases, Breast Health, and Breast Cancer in Turkey. He also received many prizes for his researches and studies.
